This unique 18th century double reed octet was composed by Johann Nepomuk Went (1745-1801) also known as Jan Vent and Johann Wendt was born in Divice near Louny (Bohemia).
Originally scored for pairs of Oboes, Cor Anglais, Bassoons and Horns - the line up of the Schwarzenberg Wind Harmonie (founded in 1771) where Went was Principal Cor Anglais.
Went’s other wind chamber works include: 4 Oboe Trios for 2 Cor Anglais +2 Oboes ; 5 Oboe Quintets for Oboe, Violin, 2 Violas + Cello and 5 Partitas for 2 Oboes, 2 Cor Anglais, 2 Horns + 2 Bassoons.
